Across 2016 and 2017, the BENEFIT-ISSD Ethiopia programme has made great strides to improve female and male smallholder farmers’ access to and use of quality seed of new, improved, and/or farmer preferred varieties to sustainably increase agricultural productivity. Here are some figures:

18,000 Packs of early generation seed of over 140 different varieties of barley, finger millet, sorghum, teff,  wheat, chick-pea, common bean, faba bean and field pea, were distributed to 6,000 farmers for on-farm participatory variety selection (PVS) trials and crowdsourcing.
