CASCAPE stands for ‘Capacity building for scaling up of evidence-based best practices in agricultural production in Ethiopia’. Initiated by Ethiopia and the Netherlands, the project started in 2011 and is implemented in line with the Agricultural Growth Programme (AGP) of the Ethiopian government.

So-called innovator teams (ITs) serve as a facilitator in all the interventions with the respective district (woreda) experts and development agents (DAs) equally participating in these activities.

The ITs are responsible for the management of the trial fields taking into account the local agro-ecological conditions. Trial or model farmers will organise regular meetings held on these demonstrations sites. Researchers along with the DAs will conduct experiments and undertake all data collections. Additional training materials are communicated by the ITs who will also monitor the entire process.
